A buddy and I are naming all the cars on the Jalopnik banner and realized we are stumped by two, surprised by the lack of one, and the addition of another. What do you guys say?
First row from left:
Elan, Ranchero, Mars Rover, Beetle, WRC Subaru, Warthog, NC Miata, 2002, DS
Second row from left:
Bullet Train, Cortina, ?????, Cugnot's, XR4, F-type, Patrol, ?????
Surprise entry: F-type (too early for C7 or BRZ/FRS?)
Surprise omission: 911
What say you Oppo?

The jury is out as to what exactly the SUV is, and next to it is a Soyuz capsule.

Mitsubishi Starion

Front says Land Cruiser, back is... a Geo?

Starion or 1st-gen Supra?

Mitsubishi Starion, perhaps? In case of Kinja this is supposed to be the third from left on the bottom row.

Nope, the one in the banner has fender mounted side views

its got elements of the partol, Fj55, trooper I and G wagon.

Looks like an FJ55 to me.

Seems like the F-Type is just too new for Jalop, period. But I guess if the Mars Rover gets a nod...
Should have snuck in the Canyonero or the Homer-mobile.
Or the Twin Mill.

That doesn't rule out it being a Starion, mirrors have been all over the place on Japanese cars in various markets and trims.

except the fj55 doesn't have a spare on the back. but your right, the front is total FJ55

Hmmm....

You know the Merkur is there because Hardibro.

and Jalop went thru alot of trouble to get vents on other cars, wierd omission if it is a FJ55

Beetle, 911 ... what's the diff?
;)

Clarkson, for the win

Mars Rover has at least been proven reliable.

The B-pillar's also a bit weird.

I can't find one with fender mirrors, but the rest of it matches up perfectly. Maybe it's wishful thinking by J-Torch.

Yup. That is a Merkur XR4Ti, all right.

Needs a Pinzgauer or a Unimog. Also more miatas.

I think thats the closest match, B pillar angles and light clusters match perfectly. First image even shows the fender treatment well.

Gotta be a G-Wagen

P sure you're right here, Klaus. With the addition of CloudNUMBERS' video posted below, looks to be a solid fit for Starion.

judging by what looks to be the twi short pipes for in front of the doors...I think you are right. And I hate that the G63 is the representative for the Jalop SUV. Power, yeah. Off road cred? before it was messed it. Douchbag driver? 100%

Alright that might be it after all.
I was looking for something else, an alternative. All I've found it this Mazda RX7 which has the wrong nose:

Yeah all of those cars were had pretty simular proportions. I think the give away is that door glass.

Datsun 280Z?
![]() 09/10/2013 at 16:43 |

Nope, look at the b- and c- pillars, and the rear glass.

Surprised no Hondas. Datsun 510 would be a nice add, too.
